Friday 28th May 2004

From to Peterborough Bridge arriving at 10:35 am. The time taken was 15 minutes. 0.5 miles and 0 locks, averaging 2 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 21 hours 0 minutes. total cruising time, 65.12 miles and 5 locks, averaging 3.34 lock/miles per hour.

Set off onto the Nene and turned to moor for a pumpout at the facilities. We also dumped the rubish and Beryl went to ASDA. After the pumpout I turned the boat again to moor on the embankment at 11 am.

From Peterborough Bridge to Alwalton Lock No 36 arriving at 3:05 pm. The time taken was 2 hours 30 minutes. 5.75 miles and 2 locks, averaging 3.1 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 23 hours 30 minutes. total cruising time, 70.87 miles and 7 locks, averaging 3.31 lock/miles per hour.

After lunch Mike and Jenny arrived on Jemi and we went up to Peterborough Cruising Club together. Moored at the end of the moorings, breasted with two other narrowboats, for the Association of Nene River Clubs Rally.

Sunday 30th May 2004

From Alwalton Lock No 36 to Warmington Lock No 31 arriving at 2:20 pm. The time taken was 4 hours 45 minutes. 11.5 miles and 5 locks, averaging 3.47 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 28 hours 15 minutes. total cruising time, 82.37 miles and 12 locks, averaging 3.34 lock/miles per hour.

Having spent Saturday at the ANRC rally manning the IWA stand we set off up the Nene for the rest of our trip. The landing stage above Water Newton Lock still needs dredging. The left hand paddle on Elton Lock is very stiff. Had lunch on the move and moored at Fotheringhay (3). Changed the awkward back belt when we stopped. A mostly sunny day.

Monday 31st May 2004

From Warmington Lock No 31 to Wadenhoe Lock No 24 arriving at 1:30 pm. The time taken was 4 hours 45 minutes. 12.25 miles and 7 locks, averaging 4.05 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 33 hours 0 minutes. total cruising time, 94.62 miles and 19 locks, averaging 3.44 lock/miles per hour.

Took some photos before leaving Fotheringhay. Still no signs to show the navgation arches on the downstream side of Oundle Bridge. There was a fallen tree in the river between Ashton and Lower Barnwell locks. Stopped for lunch at the Kings Head (Ham, chips and salad 5.75 each).

From Wadenhoe Lock No 24 to Islip Lock No 22 arriving at 4:45 pm. The time taken was 1 hour 55 minutes. 4.75 miles and 1 locks, averaging 3 lock/miles per hour. Totals for this voyage are 34 hours 55 minutes. total cruising time, 99.37 miles and 20 locks, averaging 3.42 lock/miles per hour.

Moored at the Middle Nene Sailing Club visitor moorings. A lot of boats around to day, more than we have ever met on the Nene before, although this is the first time we have been there on a Bank Holiday. A mostly hot sunny day.
