Royal Military Canal

Description of Royal Military Canal: This 19 mile navigation runs from Idem Lock, where it joins the River Rother, to West Hythe Sluice. Most of its length is unnavigable at present.

History of Royal Military Canal: Promoted for navigation by an Act of 1807, but originally built as a defence against a Napoleonic Invasion.
