North Eastern Junction Canal project

Description of North Eastern Junction Canal project: A proposal for a canal from Pixton on the Cromford Canal to the Chesterfield Canal and onwards from Hillmarsh on the Chesrterfield Canal to Rotherham, where it joined the River Don.

History of North Eastern Junction Canal project: A public meeting was held on 26 October 1810 and John Rennie surveyed the route.It was supported by the Cromford Canal Company and in 1811 the Nottingham Canal Company recommended that their shareholders give it support. It was still being discussed in September 1814 but was never authorised or built.
