Droitwich Canal

Description of Droitwich Canal: This broad beam canal, sometimes called the Droitwich Barge Canal, runs five and three-quarter miles, from Droitwich junction to the River Severn.

History of Droitwich Canal: Authorised by an Act of 1768. Originally opened in 1771 and abandoned in 1939. In 1973 the Droitwich Canal Trust Ltd.started to restoring the canal which they then owned. On 1st July 2011 the canal was officially opened.
