Description of River Derwent (Derbyshire): A tributary of the River Trent.

History of River Derwent (Derbyshire): Made navigable under an Act of 1720 and fully opened for the 10 miles up to Derby in in 1721. Traffic ceased about 1795 and it was bought by the Derby Canal Company.
