ITINERARY OF HOLIDAYS ON THE
CANALS AND RIVERS OF
GREAT BRITAIN
As a guide to others who may wish to explore the waterways of England I give a detailed list of the routes traversed. To anyone who is
enthusiastic over sculling or motor boating, there is no more enjoyable way of spending a holiday than on one of the practically unknown
waterways of the country.
These excursions were done chiefly at week-ends and Bank Holiday times, and the mileage covered in all is over two thousand miles. The
routes covered are as follows :-
WATERWAYS TRAVERSED
ENGLAND
The River Thames from the sources at Thames Head, Cirencester and Seven Springs, Cheltenham, to the Nore, including the tributaries,
Cherwell, Thame and Loddon, likewise all the various Docks to Tilbury, and the respective Creeks of Bow, Barking, Deptford, Dartford
and Rainham, also the Surrey, Grosvenor and Kensington Canals; in fact, the river in every way from its source downwards,
in all ... ... ... say, 220 miles.
