Hertford Union Canal (Grand Union)

Description: A short canal (also called Duckett's Cut) which links the Regent's Canal with the River Lee.

History: In 1824 Sir George Duckett obtained an Act of Parliament to build this canal, which was opened in 1830. The engineer was Francis Giles. Sold to the Regent's Canal Co. in 1857.

Grand Union Wendover Branch

Description: The navigable section now extends past Little Tring Bridge to a rebuilt full size winding hole at the new end of the navigation, about 600 yds beyond Little Tring Bridge. 48 hour mooring applies to the new section.

History: Built under the Grand Junction Canal Act of 1794 but completed in 1799.

Warwick & Napton Canal

Description: Built from Saltisford, Warwick, where it joined the Warwick and Birmingham Canal, to Napton where it joined the Oxford Canal. Now part of the Grand Union Canal.

History: Authorised by an Act of 28 March 1794 as the Warwick & Braunston Canal. The line was later changed to join the Oxford Canal at Napton, authorised by an Act of 14 May 1796. Formally opened on 19 December 1799 but actually open for trade on 19 March 1800.
