Saw a kingfisher above Holt Lock. Met a few narrowboats coming downsteam and shared Lincombe Lock with a Viking boat. Moored on the river just before the narrowlocks. Had lunch and took some photgraphs in the afternoon. A day of sunshine and cloud.

Came up the locks and moored on the water aon pumpout below York Street Lock. Spent 30 minutes on filling with water and getting a pumpout (£5) and got some more Elsan Blue in the chandlery. Moored for lunch a little way past the bridge. In the afternoon I walked into Kidderminster to pickup the post. A warm and sunny day.

Had to wait behind two boats at Falling Sands Lock and had trouble getting one of the bottom gates at Caldwall Lock to open properly. We also picked up some think plastic sheeting round the prop here. We moored outside Tescos. As we came into moor we hit an underwater obstruction so moored a little further on. Someone from Tescos came out looking for submerged trollys but had no means of finding them. I pulled out five Tesco trollies with the boat hook that Tesco staff took away. Did our shopping before lunch. A sunny morning but a cloudy and windy afternoon.

Met a boat coming down Botterham double lock as we were waiting to go up and had to wait for two boat to come down Bratch before we could enter. A sudden shower as we left Bratch caused us to stop for an eary lunch.

Had a good run of the locks but found all the visitor moorings before Brewood Bridge were occupied. Found a mooring the other side of the bridge (almost as far as Country Wide Cruisers). Had dinner at the Admiral Rodney - very good - Dad paid. A sunny start to the day but increasing cloud and some showers in the afternoon.

Wheaton Aston Lock was ready for us and we went straight in. Saw a kingfisher at High Onn. Mooored just past the water point and then filled with water. The Navigation was fully booked for food so we went to the Boat for lunch.

All the moorings by the bridge were taken so we came on to moor on some piling a little further on. A dry cloudy day with some patches of sun.

Made good progress through the locks and moored above lock 24 (12 according to the number on the gate). Not a very good mooring as we get trapped on a ledge. Had dinner at the Shroppie Fly (Steak and Mushroom Pie and Broccoli and Chicken Bake £6.95 each). A mostly clody day with a few spots of rain but sunny this evening.

Stopperd 25 minutes for water by the Shroppie Fly.Stoped for an hour and 25 minutes on the emabankment just past the Natwich aqueduct for lunch. Moved down to the basin for a pumpout (£10) and to get the toilet base renewed. A sunny day with some cloud.

After spending Wednesday moored in Nantwich Basin I changed the front alternator belt before setting off. Stopped for lunch on the embankment with the view before the bridge.

Moored some way before the bridge, near the start of the moorings. A wet morning and early afternoon but the rain stopped after we moored and there was some sun later. Walked round Lymm with Dad to find a place for dinner and bought some wine. Went to a nice Italian place and we all had Duck and a sweet. Dad paid.

Made a good start up the locks but soon got held up by single locks (i.e. locks where two narrowboats would not fit side by side due to distortions of the lock wall) and low pounds. The lock keeper tied the boat out side one of the locks and the pound went down so much that the rope could not be untied and we had to cut it. very low pounds near the summit. Moored below Lock 36 and went to the pub with Peter and Judy for lunch and afterwards had coffee on their boat. A day of sunshine and cloud.

After seeing Dad off at Walsden station we walked back to the boat along the canal. Set off down the canal passing three narrowboats (including Chesterton) and a cruiser who were coming up. Stopped before the lock and went to the Cross Keys for lunch (lasagne £5.25 each - very good).

Strated off at 8.15 and stopped 30 minutes for water and pumpout (£6.50) at Aspley Basin. When we got to the first lock we found Glad All Over in the lock and Butterfly waiting, both unable to move due to low water in the next pound. We eventually got into the lock at 11.30 but were delayed for some time above the lock by getting stuck in the narrows before the first tunnel. There were several more delays before we got to our night mooring above lock 17E. We walked into Slaithwaite and had dinner at the Monsoon Tandoori Restaurant. A mostly sunny day.
