We crossed over the canal and moored by the filling station next to the Canal Turn pub. Went shopping at Safeway before lunch. After lunch we went into the town and looked in the bookshop and the railway station. A mostly cloudy day with a few light showers.

Before setting off we backed up to the water point, the wind turning us around in the process. After filling with water we turned again and set off. Moored just past bridge 117. Went to the Hest Bank for dinner (Rainbow Trout, Pasta Bake and Rasberry Cheesecake £5.95 each for two courses.) A dry day with sunshine and cloud.

Spent a wet and windy Sunday in Glasson Dock and did the 7516 hour service, changed the oil filter and the gearbox fluid. Today we set off up the arm going through all the locks by ourselves and passing the narrowboats Poppytime, Completely Foxed and Gill Thorrn coming down. Did not stop at the top.

Saw a pair of oyster catchers and a curlew. Came into Ashton Basin for gas, diesel and a nights mooring. Had the gas put on board then we backed out of the basin to turn the boat and then come in backwards so that we could fill with diesel (129 litres at 29p). A day of sunshine and cloud with one heavy shower this morning.

Went into Preston town centre this morning and went to a few shops and the bank. Then we walked down to the dock and did our shopping at Morrison's and got a taxi back. Had a pump out (£10) and paid for yesteday's diesel (£37.41) and gas (14.25) before setting off. Moored a little way past the link junction and went back to take some photos before lunch.

Beryl steered for a couple of miles this afternoon. We stopped for 15 minutes at the Lune Aqueduct while I took a picture. We arrived at the turning point past the bridge at 17.10 then we turned and came back to the visitor moorings. A day of sunshine and cloud.

Set off from our moorings behind Albert Edward and turned into the basin at the top of the link just behind them. We went down the staircase locks together, they forwards we backwards to save turning in the basin. We then went through all the other locks together with Gilly Bee and Sixpence following then Beulah and The Ginger Lady bringing up the rear. We all moored three abreast on the pontoon to wait for the tide and to have lunch.

We were given the signal to set off just after lunch and we lead the convoy out onto the Ribble. A good trip and we entered Tarleton Lock shortly before Albert Edward. Moored before the swing bridge. After a few showers overnight and in the early morning the weather turned out fine for the whole trip with a good deal of sunshine.

Set off for lock 4 after lunch but found the pound above it very low so that I got stuck for a while under the railway bridge and Beryl had to let down some more water. It was almost an hour after we set off before I got into lock 3. The lock keeper assisted us through Lathom Top Lock. We came down the main line and moored a little way beyond Appley Bridge. A cloudy and wet morning and a dry afternoon with some sun.

A dry day, cloudy in the morning and sunnier in the afternoon.

Set off from Marple at 8.55. Had to work the two lift bridges but the two swing bridges were operated for us by other boaters. Turned at Whaley Bridge at 11.40 then had to wait 20 minutes for the water point to be free and 20 minutes to fill with water before going the short distance to the visitor moorings. Saw the people from Seamus & Kate who are moored here. Walked down to Bugsworth Basin and had lunch at the Navigation Inn (Penne Pasta £6.75, Steak & Kidney Pie £7.50). A dry day of cloud followed by some sunshine.
