Stppoed at Dartline/Shropshire Union Cruises for a pumpout (£10). Neither they nor Countrywide had Calor Gas, they both stocked other brands. Moved past the junction to the viisitor moorings. A cooler day of cloud and sunny periods with the occaisional very light shower.

Saw a rabbit swiming in the canal. Stopped for lunch at the Wharf Tavern (Rainbow Trout £6.95 each). Saw Mallard again, they moored opposite.

Came down through the locks and turned at the boatyard. Went back under bridge 62 and moored on the first mooring space. Did our shopping in Safeway and went back to the baoat for lunch. After lunch I went up to the locks and took some pictures and fishedd with the magnet - retrieved a windlass. A fine day with sunshine and cloud.

Went into Market Drayton to pick up the post. Saw Dulwich again as we went up Tyrley Locks. Followed by a boat called Nosnidoog (Goodinson?) and we both stopped to remoor a boat that had come adrift. Moored just before the aqueduct for a late lunch and decided tto call it a day. Warrm weather with a cooling breeze, cloudy bright with sunny periods.

It started to rain soon after we set off and continued heavilyy until after we reached the junction. Had lunch and waited for the weather to improve.

Were followed to Autherley by Gemini aand at the lock the woman from Gemini asked about how to prononce Shead and said she was reading my articles. Also passed Lincoln Imp, the woman on which mentioned my articles.

Set off after lunch at 14.35 and reached Gailey at 16.40 and started to fill with water. The tank was nearly empty and the tap was slow so we did not finish until 17.25. Went through the lock and moored below. A dull start to the day but a warm and sunny afternoon.

No meals at the pub so we got a Chinese take away (£13.50). Walked down to Fazley Junction. A hot sunny day but with a breeze.

Set off at 7.30 and did seven and a half hours without stopping, except to open the weed hatch a couple of times. Rubbish and weed in the Wyrley & Essington slowed us down. Saw maany coots and a lot of waterlilies of various colours. Went shopping in town, bought a new pair of trainers, got 3 films processed in an hour in Boots and got groceries at Tesco's. A mainly sunny day but rain in the late afternoon and evening.

A slow start to get to the tunnel due to the number of boats moored and on the move. Was nearly through the tunnel when the oil pressure alarm came on aand the temprature gauge showed overheating. I switched off the engine and bow hauled the boat out of the tunnel and up to the water point. Came down the Lapworth locks followed by the 61 foot Pelican, on theirway back to Napton. Moored below lock 14 and went to the Boot for lunch (Salmon and Haddock fishcakes £8.45, Duck breast £9.25), nice pub, good food but rather pretentious and pricey.

Set off at 8.25 for Hatton Top Lock. At 9am, when the locks opened, we had 6 boats ahead of us and two behind. We went down the locks with Dunlin from Napton. Angela phoned on the way down. We stopped below Cape Bottom lock for water and lunch.

Stopped on the visitor's moorings opposite Kate Boats, Walked into town, posted note to Angela, got some dosh from the Midland and went round St Marys Church. A cool cloudy morning with some warm sun in the afternoon.
