Walked into the town and visited the abbey church. Came back to the boat for lunch.

Went through Culham Lock just after "Dawn" and "Dusk" and moored opposite them just above the bridge. Could not get any deisel at Red Boats so filled up at Abington Boats (by the bridge), water (50p) and 123.6 litres of desiel at 28p per litre (£34.61). A cloudy day with sunny periods.

Stopped at the visitor's moorings just below the bridge and had lunch. The hotel boats that we saw in Bristol Docks,"Snipe" and Tarus", were moored just behind us and later "Dawn" and "Dusk" moored behind them. Went rround Oxford with mum and Dad - Carfax Tower, Sheldon Theatre, Bodlian Libary, Rdcliffe Camera, All Soul's and New College. A mostly sunny day with some cloud.

This morning we saw "Random Still" pass us, they were moored near us for the night. Saw Mum and Dad off on the 9.45 from Oxford then went shopping, first to the Coop then on the next trip to Sainsbury's in the Westgate Centre. After lunch we set off up the River. A day of cloud and rain.

The man from the cruiser moored behind us "Elysium Echo" spoke to me, heis out for 10 days and is returning to Lechlade. Filled wth water at Oxford Cruisers (50p) then continued on to just below the bridge. Went to the Rose Revieved for a drink before lunch, it was very busy with people drinking and having Sunday lunch. Had lunch on the boat. A cloudy day with a cool wind.

Took a winding course through isolated countryside, meeting several cruisers coming the other way. Filled with water at Shifford Lock. Th keeper was at lunch at Radcot Lock so we worked it ourselvesand moored for lunch . above the lock. A sunny day with some cloud

Another winding trip up the river, got a pump-out at St John's Lock (£1 inthe slot to operate the pump, I used £2). Moored for lunch followed y shopping and a walk to the church then back to the lock. A cloudy day with some sunny periods.

Went up to the start of the navigation at the Round House then turned and came back down. Filled with water at Grafton Lock and went through the lock with "Water Maiden", one of the first South Shore share boats. Stopped for lunch just below the bridge.

Miss judged one of the turns and ended up crashing into the willows but not badly, I blame the cross wind. Saw a Pouchard near the place I saw one on the way up. Saw my first blue damsel fly of the year. Moored below the bridge. The day started withrain at breakfast time and we started off with heavy cloud but dry gradually improving to become a very sunny afternoon.

The filter on the water pump broke off this morning so I had to fit a new filter and bail out some water before we set off. Went through the locks with "Kings Guard" who we have seen a lot over the past few days. Could not moor on the visitors mooring above the lock so turned round and moored by the meadow above the bridge. Did some painting and one or two other jobs, including removing a plastic bag from the prop. A sunny day with periods of cloud, cool in the wind.

Stopped for water below Eynsham lock then went on through Duke's Cut on to the Oxford Canal. On the way down the Tames I saw a Curlew. Moored for lunch just above the lock. "Water Maiden" passed us after lunch.

Moored outside the "Boat Inn" at Thrupp, taking the last of the visitor's moorings. A mixed day of cloud and some long sunny periods.

We walked to Shipton on Cherwell and I went on to Hampton Gay (Beryl was too scared of the horses to cross the field). After lunch we started cruising stopping at the BW Thrupp depot for water. Went up the Locks behind "Shepherd's Hey" from Honey Street (K&A). A cloudy bright day.

Moored below the lock and went for a walk round Upper Heyford. We found only one shop in the High Street, "The Early Keyboard Agency". Came back to the boat for lunch ., after which we decided to stay the night. A cloudy day with some rain in the afternoon

Moored at Aynho Wharf for deisel (83.3 litres for £15) and two tins of paint (£20) also got some new rubber for the weed hatch, disposed of the used engine oil and Simon fixed our bath and basin waste pipe problem, all without charge. Had lunch at the Great Western.

Had to wait for locks, several boats at Aynho Weir Lock, we went up behind "Calley" from Coventry and were followed by "Shezours" from York. Moored just above the lock. A cloudy day with a cold wind.

Filled with water just before Cropredy Lock and followed "Kate Elizabeth", from Kate Boats up the locks from Broadmoor to Claydon Middle, where they stopped. The crew was a party of four who we had seen in the Red Lion the previous evening. Moored just after the wharf for lunch.

Moored between bridge 122 and the lock, and were passed by "Kate Elizabeth", they passed us at lunch time and we passed them just after. A cool and cloudy day with a few sunny intervals.

Got out the bike and Beryl lockwheeled the Napton flight. Spoke to Ken Froud who was cutting the grass near his mooring. Filled with water at the bottom lock and had a pump out (£10) at Napton Narrowboats. Stopped for lunch ust aftter the junction.

Met quite a lot of boats coming up through the locks and passed the hotel boats "Ashby" and "Caldon" at Stckton Bridge and they followed us down the two Itchington locks. Moored just after the bridge. Th day started cloudy and we had some light rain but the afternoon brightened and the day ended warm and sunny.

Stopped for shopping in the town (Kwik Save) not very good but close to the mooring. We afterwards found that there is a Sainsbury's near the canal just west of the town.

Moved on after shopping to get out of the town and moored on the visitor's moorings opposite Kate Boats. A warmer and sunnier day with some cloud early and late in the day.

Spent the morning in Warwick visiting the castle (£8.25 each) and had lunch in the "Tilted Wig" pub. Moved on to be reaady for the Hatton flight and walked up most of the locks in the evening. A cloudy morning with some rain giving way to brighter weather in the afternoon, ending the day with warm sunshine.

Went up the Hatton flight with "Pusser's Lady" and followed by the hotel boats "Ashby" and "Caldon". At the top had to wait while "Pusser's Lady" filled up with water (and they used our 240v supply for their ironing) beforewe could fill up. It was a very slow tap so we had lunch while we were waiting. We moved on to between bridges 55 and 56 to moor . (David Dent passed us while we were mooring). Went to the Durham Ox in tthe evening. A warm sunny day.

At Bearley Lock we met "Taurus" and "Snipe" coming up from Stratford. Moored on the visitor moorngs near the bridge and walked into the village and did some shopping at the Post Office Stores. A mostly sunny day, warm but with some cloudy periods and one of rain.

| A morning of many locks and a late lunch due to lack of moorings just before Stratford and a full basin in the town. Went through the lock on to the river to moor, then I went up to the marina to get a combined 15 day licence for the upper and lower Avon (£40). After lunch did some shopping, booked for The Taming of the Shrew (2 x £25) tomorrow, collected our post, saw Shakespeare's tomb, had a drink in the Dirty Duck and had dinner at a self service cafe. A quiet journey down the peaceful reaches of the Avon. Many anglers and waterlilies with buttercup yellow flowers. Moored just above the lock on the excellent moorings provded by the UANT. A hot sunny day.

Moored just above the lock, on the weir side of the lock jetty, as there are very few moorings below Evesham and those were all occupied. A cloudy day, brighter in the afternoon but no sun. The next morning a woman was swiming by our boat above the weir.

Got caught on something near the bottom of Nafford Lock which tipped the boat to one side. Most of the locks on the Lower Avon have volunteer crews manning them at weekends. Found a suitable sized mooring space below Eckington Bridge where we met some waterway enthusiasts from Torksey. A cloudy morning gave way to a sunny afternoon.

At about 9am "Green Dophin" who had breasted up with us at our moorings at Eckington Bridge went back to Tewkesbury, we followed at 10.20. Stopped a little way before Strensham Lock for water and at Tewkesbury Marina for gas (£10.60) and a pumpout (£8). Moored just before the lock for lunch then went round the town and Abbey aand did some shopping in Somerfield's. Were charged £2.50 for overnight mooring. Another day where a cloudy morning was followed by a hot and sunny afternoon.

From Tewkesbury Lock to Llanthony Road Bridge arriving at 1:40 pm. The time taken was 3 hours 40 minutes. 13.63 miles and 1 locks, averaging 3.99 lock/miles per hour. Set off, after havinng filled with water, through Tewkesbury on the Avon then through the much larger Severn lock. Followed aa centre cockpit steel cruiser "Double Joy" down to Gloucester. Saw a Cormrant and a Greater Crested Grebe on the Way down. No moorings in the dock so went through the lift bridge on to the pontoon moorings but had to wait 10 minutes as the bbridge keeper was at lunch until 11.30. We walked round the town, put our films in for processing and collected the post; then we went to thee cathedral, one of the best, and did some shopping at Sainsbury's on the way back. A very hot and sunny day.

Before leaving Gloucester I postted off the insurance renewal for Lorna-Ann and bought 3 CDs using the token Rosemary sent me. Then Beryl and I went round the docks, visiting the antique warehouse (5 floors) and having a drink before coming back to the boat for lunch. We set off down the canal and stopped for water at Fretherne bridge, itt was a very slow tap and took us about 45 minutes. Moored on the visitor moorings just past the bridge. A very hot and sunny day, the hottest this year.

On the way down we saw some Great Crested Grebes. Moored and had a look round, bought some grease for tthe stern gland in the marina (£3.50). Had lunch aand waited for the heat of the day to subside a little.

Moored at the visitor's mooring from where we walked to the Bell at Frampton-on-Severn for dinner (Cod and Game pie £5.90 each) then walked round the village and back along thee canal from Splatt Bridge. Another very hot and sunny day.

Moored in the aarm opposite the Waterways Museum. "Rutilus" (latin for Roach) from the Lancaster Canal moored behind us, we have seen this northern fisheman with a loud voice several times while on the canal. Collected our prints from Jessop's and went shopping in Sainsbury's. Another vey hot and sunny day.
