Monument Valley, situated on the Arizona Utah border, was made famous by the western films of John Ford, who often used it as a location. It was for the 1939 film Stagecoach, introducing the young John Wayne, that he first used the massive stone outcrops here as a background for a film. The road the stagecoach travelled had to be specially built for the film, as the area previously had no roads, and is still in use today. |
