Lake Powell, on the Utah Arizona border, is 180 miles long and the second largest man made lake in the USA. It was formed by the building of the 710 foot-high Glen Canyon Dam which is one of several hydroelectric generating schemes along the Colorado River. The lake is now a centre of boating activity in an area far from the sea. Right: Paddle Steamer at Lake Powell.
