Arches National Park

Arches National Park is another of Utah's wonderful collection of five National Parks. It boasts the world's greatest density of natural arches, having more than 1,500. The difference between a natural bridge and a natural arch is that the former is initially formed by river action whereas the latter is formed purely by the erosion of wind and weather.

Right: Courthouse Towers a massive rock formation greets the visitor shortly after entering the park. The beauty of the Yucca plant contrasting with the solid mass of the rock.

Left: Another view of Courthouse Towers rising above the dry landscape.

Left: The Double Arch is a spectacular and much photographed natural structure. It also appeared as a location in the 1989 film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

Right: This bridge is near Wolfe Ranch which was built here in 1888 by John Wesley Wolfe, a disabled veteran of the Civil War. The little log cabin where he lived with his son Fred can still be seen.

Left: To see the Delicate Arch requires a walk up a trail, past Wolfe ranch, and up to the top of a rocky hill. It is all worth while to see this breathtaking arch
