Kent, the Garden of England, and Sussex by the sea have long served as a resort for Londoners seeking rural solace or the delights of the seaside. In the past this tradition has encompassed all classes from the Prince Regent with his Royal Pavilion at Brighton to the cockney family taking their holiday hop picking in Kent.
