Florence

Florence, or Firenze, now a provincial capital was once the old capital of Tuscany. From the end of the 13th century it played a leading role in art, literature and architecture. The Uffizi Gallery has one of the finest art collections in the world and from inside there are also good views of the River Arno and the Ponte Vecchio.
