Rally 2009

Dear Madam Secretary

May I & my family take this opportunity to personally thank everyone involved in the ANRC Rally 2009 held by Peterborough Cruising Club.

The preparation for the rally was obviously a very big task with marquees, bar, stock , ground maintenance etc to be organised and brought to a very successful conclusion.

There are too many people to thank for this very successful event , and to mention them all would take some time, and I am in danger of missing some out so I shall be general in naming persons, from the Phil the Commodore , John the Treasurer, Charlie the Secretary, Committee Members , John Brown and his rally committee, club members, even Gill Green who spent the rally up to her elbows in the cleaning of the toilets.

Members that took on duties throughout the weekend, John Horsefield for his frugal, sorry successful financial management, Olive and Brian with the raffle, The “char ladies” with the tea and cakes, those who manned the Bar-B-Q, children’s games, river events organisers, rally control, bar management & staff, Neil and his catering staff, not forgetting the “Northampton Crew”.

Members who took holidays to ensure the rally site was prepared before and dismantled at the end of the rally.

Not forgetting the wives, husbands and partners ,who, whilst in the background, shared these tasks by supporting the efforts, time and in some cases the finances involved to put this show together. Even the “Vicar” for organising the weather with his boss.

The list is so long that it would be impossible to mention everyone by name, and if I have forgotten any individual I apologise, so, suffice to say that if you helped with this event then this “thank you” is to you also.

However I fell that a special thank you should go to Phil Donner, firstly for his enthusiasm for this club, his motivation, his hard work, (prior, during and after), his contacts , equipment loaned, equipment foraged, and his valuable time.

Comments from the visitors say it all, wonderful, friendly, accommodating club, and as usual a very good weekend.

So, a very “Big Thank You” to all members and non members who volunteered their services to ensure the reputation of this club was held in the highest esteem by all who attended the rally.
