Dear Debby

I write as Captain of the Association of Nene River Clubs to express my extreme disappointment on a visit to your city by in August 2006. On trying to moor at Jesus Lock I found a large number of the moorings occupied by boats that people were obviously living on, hence making it very difficult for visitors to moor.

I understand policing this facility is your responsibility and therefore would appreciate an explanation and your proposed solution to this problem.

You have a beautiful city that should be a delight to visit by river, unfortunately, because of your disregard for the policing of the 48 hours moorings you are failing your city and losing business because visitors are discouraged from visiting.

Yours sincerely

Dear Irven

I write to you as Captain of the Association of Nene River Clubs, to express our concerns for the National Festival to be held at St Ives in 2007.

Having boated from Peterborough to St Ives in August 2006 the problems at Salters Lode became self explanatory, this lock is limited in its use by the tide and if large numbers of boats are trying to make passage through the lock to Denver and up onto the River Ouse, we fear major problems.

This is compounded by the silting problem between Salters and Denver that for a number of years the agency seems to have ignored, and because of this, the locking times at Salters have been reduced yearly.

As the date and venue for the Festival have been set and agreed we would appreciate your comments on the situation at Salters and your proposed solution.

Our association represents a large boating community with a great number of them intending visiting the festival in 2007. A solution to this problem would be appreciated with some urgency so we are able to assure our members that they will be able to visit the National Festival in 2007.

Yours sincerely

Dear Sir/Madam

I write in reference to a letter sent to all the club secretaries by Elton Boat Club. The Letter was asking for your support in expressing our concerns with regards to licensing for the forthcoming years.

The letter is self explanatory in its nature, and asks for you all to write with your objections.

As Captain of the ANRC I would express my own concerns and ask that you as individual clubs do the same.

I enclose a copy of the Elton Boat Club original letter in case this has been misplaced.

Yours sincerely

Ray Brackpool
